These days, having a sedentary lifestyle is becoming a more and more common. Our way of life is the cause. In fact, everything is done to accommodate and distract us in our society. Television and video games keep us on our couches, and elevators prevent us from taking the stairs (for a minimum of cardio). As a result, physical activity is often put on the back burner.

Here are the consequences:

Increased stress and depression

A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine shows that a sedentary lifestyle increases the risk of depression by 25%. We can all agree that playing sports is good for the mind.

Gaining weight

You have to be active to avoid gaining weight. If you don’t, calories won’t be burned and fat will accumulate. Add bad eating habits to this and you have a disaster. Weight gain can happen quickly and consistently, leading to obesity and other diseases.

The risk of developing a cardiovascular disease

It has been shown that a sedentary lifestyle increases cardiovascular mortality and is one of its main causes. It’s important to practice sports regularly in order to avoid possible heart diseases.
